What 𝈔 means
It marks the second sharp in the pitch group labeled d.
A sharp raises pitch. Vocal notation groups a base pitch with two successive sharps, so 𝈔 is the third sign in the d group. Here, d is a modern scholarly label, not a guaranteed piano pitch.
A Greek letter shape in musical notation
Greek letter-shaped signs recorded vocal and instrumental melody. The earliest surviving written music, from the mid-third century BCE, already shows an established system. Surviving texts range from a fragment of Euripides’ tragedy Orestes to Christian hymns; modern editions reuse the signs. Different type styles distinguish notation from ordinary Greek letters, but this is a convention, not a rule.

1Questions people ask
1Why does 𝈔 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Ancient Greek Musical Notation block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
