What 앣 means
A Korean word's context supplies the meaning.
The syllable is built from initial ㅇ, vowel ㅐ, and final consonant cluster ㄳ. The spelling “aegs” is the Unicode label assembled from those parts, not a Korean word or a pronunciation guide. When ㄳ closes a word, it is pronounced with a final k sound.
When was Hangul created?
Hangul's creation is first recorded in 1443; its guide appeared in 1446.
Hangul offered a more accessible way to write Korean, whose spoken language differs from Chinese. Before it, Korean writers used Chinese characters and adapted methods called Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal, which were difficult to use. Hangul spread through religious, practical, literary, and everyday writing. Official documents remained mostly in Chinese characters until Hangul became Korea's national writing system in 1894.
Why can 앣 split into jamo?
Unicode can represent this block as three jamo.
Jamo are Hangul's individual letters. Canonical decomposition represents 앣 as the position-specific sequence 앣; normalization can recombine those parts into 앣. Seeing separate jamo can therefore reflect the text's representation, not damage to the character.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
Codes and encoding1 code points
A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
