What 밼 means
It is one Hangul syllable, not a complete sentence.
Its parts are ㅂ (the opening consonant), ㅐ (the vowel), and ㄽ (a final cluster made from ㄹ and ㅅ). “Baels” is the Unicode construction name for that sequence, not a translation or a reaction. A Korean word or sentence supplies the meaning.
With Korean input active, an input method assembles typed letters into a square syllable block. Fonts can change the spacing and proportions of its parts without changing the character.
Why was Hangul created?
To give Korean speakers a learnable way to write their language. King Sejong created the writing system in 1443. Korean had been written using Chinese characters, which were not well suited to representing Korean speech. The book 훈민정음, published in 1446, explained the design and gave the script its original name; its title roughly means “proper sounds for instructing the people.” This block is one combination of Hangul letters, not a separate picture sign with its own origin.
Earlier labels included 정음 (“correct sounds”), 언문 (“vernacular writing”), and 반절. After 1894, 국문 and 국서 were common names. Records of the name 한글 appear in the early 1910s, and it became widely used after 1928.

1Why does 밼 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
