What 뺍 means
By itself, 뺍 is one syllable, not a complete word.
Its meaning comes from the surrounding Korean word. 뺍니다 is a formal polite form of 빼다, meaning “take out” or “subtract.”
Before ㄴ, the final ㅂ sounds like the m in “map,” so 뺍니다 is pronounced 뺌니다. The spelling stays 뺍니다.
How did this block come to exist?
This is a regular Korean syllable block built by Hangul’s spelling rules.
The Hangul system is recorded in the 1443 Sejong Sillok, a royal chronicle. The 1446 Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the new script, explains the letter sounds and how an initial consonant, vowel, and final consonant combine into a block. Hangul was designed to write Korean speech in a system suited to it, rather than relying on Chinese characters.
뺍 combines ㅃ as its initial consonant, ㅐ as its vowel, and ㅂ as its final consonant. The blocks look square, but Hangul’s shapes were not directly derived from Chinese characters. South Korean sources use the name Hangul; Choseongul is preferred in North Korea.
How do I type 뺍?
Enter ㅃ, then ㅐ, then ㅂ. The Korean input method joins them into one block.
On the standard 2-set Dubeolsik layout, press ShiftQ, O, Q. Those keys enter the initial consonant, vowel, and final consonant in order.
Its tone comes from the Korean word and sentence around it.
On its own, 뺍 does not identify a complete verb; read the surrounding Korean.

2Why is 뺍니다 pronounced like 뺌니다?
The final ㅂ sounds like ㅁ before ㄴ, so this form is pronounced 뺌니다. The spelling remains 뺍니다.
Why does 뺍 look different in different fonts?
A font lays out the three Hangul parts inside one square, so their shapes, spacing, and placement can vary. If the glyph appears as an empty box, the font lacks support; the intended block is still 뺍.
