What 챪 means
It is a Hangul syllable assembled from letters.
Hangul writes each syllable in a compact block: 챪 combines the opening consonant ㅊ, vowel ㅑ, and final consonant cluster ㄻ. These component letters are called jamo. “Cyalm” in the Unicode name labels that construction; it is not a Korean translation.
A guide published in 1446 explained Hangul's design and purpose. Modern Korean spelling follows the unified proposal from 1933.
Neutral as a Hangul text syllable; alone, its intended role is hard to tell.

Questions people ask
1Why does 챪 split into jamo?
It can. Unicode's NFC form stores 챪 as one precomposed syllable; its NFD form stores the same text as separate letters, ᄎ ᅣ ᆱ. Unicode treats these spellings as equivalent, even though their character sequences differ.
