What 챦 means
On a 2-set Dubeolsik keyboard, type c, i, s, g.
On the standard Korean 2-set Dubeolsik layout, c, i, s, g enters the starting consonant ㅊ, vowel ㅑ, and final consonant cluster ㄶ. The Korean input method combines them into 챦. If another layout or Latin input is active, switch to Korean 2-set first.
Hangul syllables arrange a starting consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant group into one block. The parts in 챦 are ㅊ, ㅑ, and ㄶ.
What does 챦 mean?
It is a nonstandard spelling form, not a standard chat cue.
The Korean orthography guide notes that a mechanical, letter-by-letter contraction might produce 챦, but standard spelling uses 찮. It also gives 잖 as a contraction of -지 않-, a Korean expression for “not.” 챦 fits a spelling discussion, but can look like an error in ordinary Korean writing.
Hangul was designed to represent Korean speech with a systematic set of sound-based letters. Its earliest recorded account appears in the Annals of King Sejong, a royal chronicle, in 1443. The Hunminjeongeum, a book explaining the letters, followed in 1446. Standardization in the 20th century shaped modern Korean spelling.
In a Korean spelling lesson, it is instructional; in ordinary writing, it can look accidental.
For the standard spelling, use 찮; 챦 may look like an error.
