What 쳝 means
It is assembled from an initial, a vowel, and a final cluster.
Hangul puts a syllable’s sounds into one block. In 쳝, the parts are ㅊ ㅕ ㄾ; the bottom cluster is the final consonant, called batchim. The syllable’s role comes from the Korean word it belongs to.
King Sejong’s court designed Hangul as a writing system suited to Korean speech. The royal chronicle Sejong Sillok (세종실록) first records the new script in 1443; an explanatory book called Hunminjeongeum (훈민정음) was published in 1446. It describes how initial consonants, vowels, and final consonants form syllable blocks; 쳝 follows those rules.
How do I type 쳝?
A two-set Korean keyboard composes it from keystrokes.
On the standard two-set keyboard, press C (ㅊ), U (ㅕ), F (ㄹ), then X (ㅌ). The input method combines ㄹㅌ into the final cluster ㄾ and composes the syllable block.
How is 쳝 pronounced in a word?
The final cluster changes sound with its position.
In standard Korean, final ㄾ at a word’s end or before another consonant is pronounced as ㄹ; the second part is not heard there. The spelling retains the full cluster even when pronunciation simplifies it.
Neutral as a Korean spelling unit; tone comes from the word and sentence around it.
A lone syllable is not enough to infer a dependable translation.
