What does 덛 mean in Korean?
By itself, 덛 is a syllable block, not a complete Korean word.
It combines ㄷ as its opening consonant, ㅓ as its vowel, and ㄷ as its closing consonant. The Korean word around it supplies the meaning.
Hangul was created under King Sejong in 1443. A guidebook published in 1446, Hunminjeongeum (“The Proper Sounds for the Instruction of the People”), explained the script’s purpose and principles. Its letters gave people a way to write Korean with a system suited to its sounds instead of relying on Chinese characters.
