What 됌 means
Use 됨 for the noun form of 되다.
For standard Korean spelling, the verb stem 되- takes the noun-form ending -ㅁ to make 됨. 돼 is a contraction of 되어 (“become”), not the spelling that takes -ㅁ. In 안됨, the sense can be “not allowed” or “not working”; 해도 됨 means “it is okay to do.”
A TheQoo post available in 2026 uses 안됌 and 해도 됌 for the standard forms 안됨 and 해도 됨. The surrounding phrase shows whether the writer means something is not allowed, not working, or okay to do.
How is this block built?
Hangul builds each syllable from consonant and vowel letters.
Hangul is the Korean writing system. Hunminjeongeum, a text published in 1446, describes how initial, middle, and final sounds fit into syllable blocks. 됌 combines ㄷ ㅙ ㅁ; the standard form 됨 has ㅚ instead of ㅙ.
How do I type 됌?
On Dubeolsik with Korean input active, type ehoa.
Dubeolsik is a two-set Korean keyboard layout. The input method combines the keystrokes into the component letters ㄷ ㅙ ㅁ and assembles them into one block.
In edited Korean, 됌 is a misspelling; use 됨 in school, work, or other formal writing.
For the noun form of 되다, write 됨.
