What 듎 means
It names a Hangul block; it does not translate a word.
A Hangul syllable is built from jamo, the Korean letters that represent its consonant and vowel parts. 듎 decomposes as ᄃ ᅲ ᆵ: an initial consonant, a vowel, and a final consonant cluster. In familiar standalone shapes, they appear as ㄷ ㅠ ㄿ. Unicode derives the name “Dyulp” from those parts, so it is a structural label rather than a translated definition.
Hangul’s design project began under King Sejong in 1443, and the 1446 guide Hunminjeongeum explained its purpose and principles. It gave Korean a writing system suited to its sounds and easier to learn than Chinese-character writing. Hangul appeared in Buddhist, Confucian, practical, literary, and everyday texts while official documents remained mostly in Chinese; it became Korea’s national writing system in 1894. The Phags-pa script, a separate square script used by the Mongol Yuan state, is reported as a reference for Hunminjeongeum’s design.
How do I type 듎?
Use a Korean IME to enter ㄷ ㅠ ㄿ in order.
An input method combines an initial consonant, vowel, and final consonant cluster into a syllable block. Unicode also permits the same syllable to be stored as one precomposed character or an equivalent jamo sequence, so the underlying code-point sequence can differ.
For an exact single-character test, use the precomposed syllable; for an input-method test, enter its jamo sequence.
