What 읎 means
읎 is used in Korean forms meaning “not exist” or “not have.” 읎다 and 읎어 correspond to standard 없다 and 없어. Dictionary entries list 읎다 in Gangwon, North Gyeongsang, South Jeolla and Chungcheong; local familiarity can make it read as dialect, while other readers may see nonstandard spelling.
The word 없다 is recorded from the 15th century. A Korean language article in 1989 gives 읎어 and 웂어 as dialect examples; a 2011 study of Ganghwa speech records 읎다 and 읎. Other recorded regional spellings include 웂다, 엄따, 움따, 음따, 엇다 and 읏다.
