What 낍 means
By itself, 낍 is a written building block, not a word.
Its role comes from the Korean word around it. If 낍 arrives alone, ask what word it came from instead of assigning it a fixed translation.
Hangul was created in 1443 and introduced in the 1446 book Hunminjeongeum, a guide to the new script. Its syllable blocks were designed for Korean sounds. Earlier methods of writing Korean, including Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal, adapted Chinese characters to represent Korean words and grammar.
Why does 낍 appear inside words?
The verb and its ending give 낍 its role.
In Korean’s formal-polite style, 끼다 becomes 낍니다 and 느끼다 becomes 느낍니다. A vowel-final verb stem takes the ending -ㅂ니다, with ㅂ joining the stem’s last syllable as 낍. The verbs mean put on or insert, and feel or experience; 낍 alone carries neither translation.
How do I type 낍?
Use a Korean IME; 낍 is composed from three keystrokes.
On the standard Korean two-set layout, ShiftR enters ㄲ, L enters ㅣ, and Q enters ㅂ; the input method combines them into 낍. If they stay separate, composition may be off or the field may accept raw jamo.
Unicode also defines a canonical decomposition of 낍 into position-specific Hangul jamo—the component letters used at the start, middle, and end of a syllable. A field may display those jamo separately; they still represent the same syllable.
낍 is neutral by itself; the ending in 낍니다 marks formal-polite Korean.
Do not translate bare 낍 as feel or put on; those meanings belong to whole verbs.

Questions people ask
1Why does 낍 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
