What 걯 means
By itself, 걯 has no fixed translation or message.
Keyboard shorthand writes its parts as ㄱ ㅒ ㅎ: an opening consonant, a vowel, and a closing consonant. Unicode’s formal breakdown uses three Hangul letters: leading ᄀ, vowel ᅤ, and final ᇂ. The romanized Unicode name “gyaeh” labels this structure; it is not a word’s translation.
Hangul was created under King Sejong in 1443, and the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum set out its purpose and principles in 1446. It offered a simpler way to write Korean than Chinese-character systems then used for Korean, including Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal. Early Hangul texts carried Buddhist and Confucian works; later writing also carried practical knowledge, laws, and everyday communication.
