What 짃 means
A spelling unit, not a word with a set meaning.
Its parts are ㅈ, ㅣ, and final ㄳ. Unicode canonically decomposes 짃 into position-specific Hangul letters ᄌ, ᅵ, ᆪ.
Hangul was devised under King Sejong in 1443 so Korean could be written by sound rather than through Chinese characters; its guidebook, Hunminjeongeum (“Correct Sounds for Teaching the People”), appeared in 1446. One theory links its design to Sanskrit-associated, Uyghur, Tibetan, and Phags-pa scripts; Hangul was not copied from any one. It later became central to Korean writing.
Does 짃 have a conversational meaning on its own? No standalone conversational use is established as of 2026; it is neutral Korean text.
