What 좗 means
Its meaning comes from the Korean word around it. Hangul builds syllables from smaller units called jamo (component letters). 좗 combines ㅈ at the start, ㅘ as its vowel, and ㄼ as its final consonant cluster. “Jwalb” combines short names for those components; it is a technical Unicode label, not a Korean word.
The Hangul script was announced in 1443, and its explanatory book, Hunminjeongeum, appeared in 1446. The book describes the script’s sounds and how jamo form syllable blocks. Hangul was designed to make Korean speech easier to write for people who could not readily use Hanja, Chinese characters also used in Korean writing.
Like other Hangul syllables, 좗 can be stored as one precomposed block or as an equivalent sequence of jamo. Fonts may draw the same syllable with different proportions or arrangements.
Ordinary as a Korean syllable; opaque as an isolated message.
Don’t read “Jwalb” as a Korean word; it is a component-based Unicode label.
