What 줯 means

Alone, it does not tell you which word it belongs to.

Hangul groups letters into square syllable blocks. In this one, ㅈ begins the block, ㅝ is its vowel, and ㅊ closes it.

King Sejong created Hangul to help people who struggled with Chinese characters write Korean. The name Hunminjeongeum is recorded in 1443; a 1446 guidebook explained its design. Later names included eonmun and, after 1894, gukmun (“national writing”). “Hangeul” appears in early-1910s records and was widely used by 1928.
