What 줫 means
Hangul blocks join alphabetic pieces called jamo; 줫 combines ᄌ, ᅯ and ᆺ.
King Sejong devised Hangul in the 15th century. Its guidebook, Hunminjeongeum, explains a script designed for Korean sounds and wider access. Before Hangul spread, kugyol annotations added Korean reading cues to Chinese texts. The song “낮에 나온 반달” (“Half Moon in Daylight”) includes “치마끈에 달랑달랑 채워 줫스면,” imagining the moon as a gourd dipper dangling from a grandmother’s skirt tie.
