What 쟎 means
Write 잖 when you mean the standard contracted ending.
Standard Korean writes the contractions of -지 않- and -치 않- as -잖- and -찮-, respectively. The ending -잖- can remind or correct the listener. 쟎 is a spelling error when -잖- is intended. The blocks share initial ㅈ and final cluster ㄶ, but the vowel differs: 잖 has ㅏ, while 쟎 has ㅑ.
Where did Hangul’s block design come from?
Hangul groups letters into blocks to write Korean syllables.
Hangul was designed for Korean; unlike earlier methods that repurposed Chinese characters, it groups letters into syllable blocks. The first mention of Hunminjeongeum, the text introducing the alphabet, is dated to 1443; an explanatory book followed in 1446.
Idu, Gugyeol and Hyangchal were earlier practices for writing Korean with Chinese characters. They are part of Korean writing history, not component letters of Hangul blocks.
How do I type 쟎?
Use a Korean two-set input method editor (IME).
Enter the initial consonant, vowel and final cluster in order; on the standard Korean two-set QWERTY layout, the keys are w i s g.
Hangul can also appear as separate jamo, its component letters, instead of one precomposed syllable. If they remain separate, the text is a decomposed form of the same block construction.
As a specimen, neutral; in Korean prose, 쟎 is a spelling error where 잖 is expected.
If 쟎 is a typo for the contracted ending, write 잖.

1Why does 쟎 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
