What 캆 means
Use Korean two-set input: ㅋ ㅏ ㅂ ㅅ. On the standard South Korean layout, z-k-q-t enters those letters in order and the input method composes 캆.
The final ㅂ and ㅅ combine into one permitted ending. Font designs can change stroke weight and spacing without changing which character this is.
What does 캆 mean?
“Kabs” labels its construction, not a Korean translation. The block combines initial ㅋ, vowel ㅏ, and the double final ㅄ, a compound consonant made from ㅂ and ㅅ.
The history here belongs to Hangul, not to a special story about this block. The key dates are 1443 and 1446: the royal chronicle Sejong Sillok first records Hunminjeongeum, the new Korean writing system, in 1443; its explanatory guide was published in 1446. Hangul was designed to make Korean easier to read and write for people who did not know Chinese characters; the guide also explains final consonants and letter combinations.
Modern Korean keeps ㅄ in words such as 값 (“value” or “price”) and 없었습니다 (“was not”), though speakers pronounce the cluster as a single final consonant.
Technical in Korean input work; unusual as ordinary Korean prose.
Do not treat “kabs” as the Korean word 값; it only labels this block’s construction.
