What 커 means
By itself, 커 is a syllable, not a complete word. 커피 means “coffee”; 커서 can be 크다 (“to grow or be big”) plus -어서, with the sentence setting its sense.
Hangul was created in 1443 and explained in the 1446 guide Hunminjeongeum. It offered another way to write Korean alongside Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal, older methods that used Chinese characters for Korean speech and grammar.
Unicode can also store 커 as ᄏ ᅥ, its consonant and vowel jamo; it remains the same syllable.
