Hangul Syllable Kwen

9245/11172

On the standard Korean two-set keyboard, enter ㅋ, ㅜ, ㅔ, then ㄴ to form 휜. 휜 is a Hangul syllable used inside words and names, not a freestanding message with one obvious reading. Text can also represent the same syllable as its component letters.

What 퀜 means

Use Korean two-set input.

On the standard Korean two-set layout, enter ㅋ, ㅜ, ㅔ, then ㄴ. Korean input joins ㅜ ㅔ into ㅞ, then adds ㄴ to finish 휜. On a QWERTY keyboard, those keys are z, n, p, s in that order; switch to Korean input first or the same keys produce Latin letters.

Typing the Latin spelling kwen will not compose the Hangul block; use the Hangul keystrokes.

Does 휜 have a meaning by itself?

It has no established standalone Korean meaning as of September 2026.

Hangul was created in 1443 as a script for Korean; an explanatory book appeared in 1446 to describe its sounds, how it works, and its purpose. 휜 belongs to that system of syllable blocks, rather than to a separate ancient sign.

A 2015 Korean typography proposal lists 휜 as a spelling of Spanish quien, meaning “who.” A Korean PlayStation article in 2023 uses 휜 in the name of the Quen, a fictional tribe in the game expansion Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. These are context-specific uses, not a fixed everyday definition.

Why can 휜 look different across fonts?

The same syllable can appear as one block or several letters.

Hangul jamo are the letter parts arranged into syllable blocks. The parts of 휜 are ㅋ ㅞ ㄴ: an opening consonant, a vowel, and a closing consonant. Text normalization can switch between the precomposed block and an equivalent sequence of jamo, and fonts may change their placement, shape, or size. That display change alone does not make a different syllable.

Neutral as a character; the word or name around it supplies the context.

A lone 휜 is hard to decode; ask what word or name it belongs to.

Why does 퀜 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
