hangul syllable nweol

Hangul syllable Nweol

1577/11172

With a Korean IME, enter ㄴ ㅝ ㄹ to form 눨. The syllable itself has no fixed standalone meaning; Korean words and grammatical forms give it context. Its three Hangul parts can also be stored as separate jamo, so two forms that look alike may differ in raw text.

What 눨 means

Use a Korean IME and enter ㄴ, ㅝ, and ㄹ in order.

Those are the opening consonant, vowel, and ending consonant; the input method combines them into one Hangul syllable block. The canonical sequence of separate Hangul letters (jamo), 눨, can look the same, but normalization matters for exact searches and string matching.

What does 눨 mean?

It has no fixed meaning on its own; Korean words provide context.

A Korean-language journal from 1989 lists 눨 among contracted forms used when a verb takes the object marker -를, the ending that marks what the verb acts on; it gives no example for this form. That supports a spelling role, not a standalone definition.

The new script was designed to write Korean speech in Joseon, a Korean kingdom, in square blocks that combine consonants and vowels. The earliest royal record dates to lunar December 1443; a book explaining the script, Hunminjeongeum, followed in 1446, a different milestone. Its square layout has a documented connection to Chinese-character writing. Names shifted from Hunminjeongeum and eonmun to gukmun and gukseo; Hangeul began entering public use in the 1910s and was widely used by 1928.

Neutral inside Korean words or grammatical forms; opaque by itself.

Alone, it gives no reliable clue to a sender's intended message.

Why is 눨 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
