What 팓 means
On its own, 팓 is a syllable without a clear word-level meaning.
The block combines the initial consonant ㅍ, vowel ㅏ, and final consonant ㄷ. Together they form one spoken syllable; the surrounding word or sentence shows how it functions.
Hangul was announced in 1443; its 1446 guide, Hunminjeongeum, explained the new script as a way to write Korean speech without relying on Chinese characters. Unicode can encode a Hangul syllable as one precomposed block or as a sequence of jamo (Hangul component letters); fonts shape the sequence into a syllable.
