What 펏 means
It contributes one syllable inside a Korean word or phrase.
Hangul letters join into syllable blocks: ㅍ starts 펏, ㅓ is its vowel, and ㅅ ends it.
Why was Hangul created?
In 1443, King Sejong created Hangul as a practical writing system for Korean.
Before Hangul, Koreans adapted Chinese characters in systems such as idu and hyangchal. The 1446 guide Hunminjeongeum explained its letters.
It became official for public documents in 1894. The name Hangeul appears in records from the early 1910s; in 1928, the holiday name changed from gagyanal to Hangeulnal, helping it spread.

Questions people ask
1Why does 펏 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
