What 폵 means
A Korean word supplies its meaning.
Hangul blocks join an initial consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant. This one combines ᄑ (ㅍ), ᅩ (ㅗ), and ᆰ (ㄺ). The final cluster can change sound with the next sound in a word.
King Sejong created Hangul in 1443 as an easier-to-learn writing system for Korean; the 1446 Hunminjeongeum guide explained its design. Unicode derives “Polg” from short names for these parts, so it is not a pronunciation guide. Early publications included Buddhist scriptures and later Confucian translations; practical guides appeared in print by the late 16th century.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
Codes and encoding1 code points
