Hangul syllable 롡

롡 is a Korean Hangul block read as one syllable within the surrounding text, not as a word with a fixed meaning on its own. Korean input combines its component letters; a font without the glyph may show a blank box.

What 롡 means

It is a syllable, not a word with a fixed meaning. It functions as one syllable in Korean text; the word it belongs to supplies the meaning.

How did Hangul begin?

Hangul was devised in 1443 and its guide appeared in 1446. That guide, 훈민정음, explained the script’s purpose and principles. Hangul offered a way to write Korean more directly because Chinese characters did not fit Korean speech and grammar well. Its component letters, called jamo, were not derived directly from Han characters. Reforms designated Hangul for official national use in 1894.
