What 륀 means
Turn on Korean input and type f-n-l-s on a 2-set keyboard.
A Korean input method (IME) joins typed Hangul letters, called jamo, into syllable blocks. Here, f enters ㄹ, n followed by l combines ㅜ and ㅣ into ㅟ, and s adds final ㄴ. If separate letters remain onscreen, make sure Korean input is active or finish the block with another letter, a space, or punctuation.
What does 륀 mean?
It is one Hangul syllable; surrounding text supplies its meaning.
륀 has ㄹ as its initial consonant, ㅟ as its vowel, and ㄴ at the end. That structure identifies one syllable, not a complete word; read it with neighboring Korean syllables to understand the word.
How does 륀 fit into Hangul?
륀 follows Hangul’s ordinary syllable-block structure.
Hangul was created in 1443 under the name Hunminjeongeum; a 1446 publication explained the script’s purpose and principles. It offered a more accessible way to write Korean than using Chinese characters to represent Korean.
Hangul appeared in Buddhist and Confucian books, practical manuals, and household labels before it became Korea’s official national writing system in 1894. Earlier practices called Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters to write Korean; they belong to the history of Korean writing, not to the parts of 륀.

Questions people ask
1Why does 륀 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
