Hangul Syllable Syep

5515/11172

솊 is a Hangul syllable block made from consonant ㅅ, vowel ㅖ, and consonant ㅍ. As of 2026, it has no established standalone slang or reaction meaning; inside a Korean word, the word gives it meaning. If someone sends only 솊, ask what they meant.

What 솊 means

It is a Hangul syllable block, not a message by itself.

Hangul arranges component letters into syllable blocks. In 솊, ㅅ begins the block, ㅖ is its vowel, and ㅍ closes it. The surrounding word gives it lexical meaning. As of 2026, 솊 has no established standalone slang or reaction meaning.

Hangul was created in 1443 and presented in the 1446 guidebook Hunminjeongeum, whose title means “Correct Sounds for the Instruction of the People.” It offered a way to write Korean for people who could not use the Chinese-character system of writing. Modern spelling rules in both Koreas trace major roots to the 1933 Tongiran, a proposal to unify Hangul spelling; later revisions followed. These are milestones in Hangul’s history, not an origin story for 솊.

How do you type 솊?

Enter ㅅ, then ㅖ, then ㅍ in a Korean input method.

A Korean input method (IME) assembles the letters into a syllable block. On the standard Korean two-set (Dubeolsik) keyboard, press T, ShiftP, then V. Typing the Latin spelling syep does not enter those Hangul letters.

Unicode normalization can store 솊 as one precomposed block (NFC) or as its three component letters (NFD). Some software displays the decomposed letters separately; they still represent the same syllable.

Neutral as a syllable inside Korean text; alone, it gives little clue to the writer’s intent.

If it arrives alone, ask what the sender meant; the syllable does not settle intent.

Why is 솊 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
