What 턱 means
“Chin” or “jaw”; idiomatically, “no basis.” 턱 names the lower face; 턱도 없다 calls a claim groundless or an amount insufficient.
Hangul was devised in 1443; a 1446 book explained it as an easier way to write Korean than with Chinese characters. Earlier Korean writing systems Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal adapted Chinese characters; a link to the Phags-pa script is debated. Digital text stores 턱 as one syllable or three jamo (Hangul letters), ᄐ ᅥ ᆨ, which a Korean input method joins.

1Why does 턱 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
