What 텃 means
텃 gets its sense from the whole Korean word around it. 텃밭 means a garden plot near a home; 텃세 describes established insiders asserting local privilege against outsiders. The syllable is part of each word, not a stand-alone symbol for either idea.
Hangul was created as an alphabet for Korean speech, with letters grouped into syllable blocks. The explanatory book Hunminjeongeum sets out the script’s design, pronunciation rules, and use; a recorded reference to it dates to 1443, and the book was published in 1446.
Earlier Korean writing relied on Chinese characters. Hangul blocks can look like single signs, but they group alphabetic letters for Korean sounds and were not derived from Chinese characters. Modern Korean spelling rests on a unified-spelling proposal from 1933, partly revised in 1988.
how do I type 텃
Enter ㅌ, then ㅓ, then ㅅ in a Korean IME. The input method combines those keys into the syllable block 텃.
Unicode also represents 텃 as three conjoining Hangul letters, ᄐ ᅥ ᆺ. If a text system shows them separately, that is the decomposed form of the same syllable, not a different word.
