Hangul Syllable Tyeogg

9579/11172

As of 2026-09-13, 텪 has no established dictionary meaning by itself; a Korean word or name supplies its reading. It combines initial ㅌ, vowel ㅕ, and final ㄲ. On a standard two-set Korean keyboard, enter x, u, then Shift+r; tyeogg is a romanized label, not a typing command.

What 텪 means

A Korean word or name supplies its reading.

Hangul was developed as a writing system for Korean and completed in 1443. Hunminjeongeum, a guide explaining the system, was formally published in 1446. Before Hangul, Korean writing relied on Chinese characters and Classical Chinese.

Its parts are initial consonant ᄐ, vowel ᅧ, and final consonant ᆩ—the jamo, or Hangul letter components, behind ㅌ ㅕ ㄲ. tyeogg is a romanized label, not a translation. On the standard two-set Korean layout, x, u, then Shift+r enter the parts in order.

How to type 텪

Use a Korean input method.

On the standard two-set layout, enter ㅌ, ㅕ, then ㄲ. With a QWERTY keyboard, the keys are x, u, then Shift+r; the Korean input method editor (IME) combines them as 텪.

The decomposed sequence 텪 can also be normalized into the precomposed block 텪.

Why can 텪 have two Unicode forms?

Unicode allows two equivalent stored forms.

Unicode defines 텪 as a precomposed block with the canonical jamo sequence 텪. Normalization can switch between them, so two strings may display the same syllable while storing different sequences.

Compare the final: 텩 ends in ㄱ, 텪 in ㄲ, and 텫 in ㄳ, a two-consonant final cluster. These are distinct blocks.

Technical on its own; an ordinary Hangul syllable when a Korean word or name calls for it.

Why is 텪 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
