Hangul syllable Tyeogs

텫 is one Hangul syllable block; on its own, it gives a Korean syllable spelling, not the meaning of a whole word. The block is built from ㅌ, ㅕ, and final ㄳ. A Korean keyboard’s input method assembles those smaller letters, and text tools can also split the block back into jamo.

What 텫 means

텫 is one Hangul block that spells a Korean syllable. Its letters are ㅌ, the initial consonant; ㅕ, the vowel; and ㄳ, the pair of consonant letters at the end. They show how the block is assembled, not a translation.

Inside a Korean word, 텫 contributes one syllable. By itself, it does not tell you which larger word or meaning is intended.

How was Hangul created?

Hangul arranges alphabetic letters into syllable-shaped blocks. It was devised under King Sejong in 1443. In 1446, the guide Hunminjeongeum explained how the letters work and why they were created. Before Hangul, Koreans also used Chinese characters and methods that adapted them to Korean, such as Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal. Hangul offered a more accessible way to write Korean.

Over time, Hangul became part of everyday print and official writing in Korea; the National Hangeul Museum dates its official national status to 1894. During Japanese colonial rule, preserving the script also became connected with Korean national identity. These are changes in the writing system’s role, not extra meanings carried by 텫.

How do I type 텫 with a Korean keyboard?

Enter its letters in order in a Korean input method. A Korean IME assembles ㅌ, ㅕ, ㄱ, then ㅅ into 텫, grouping final ㄱ and ㅅ as ㄳ.

Unicode has two common normalization forms: NFC can combine modern Hangul jamo into a precomposed syllable, while NFD can separate it into jamo. These are different text sequences even if a font draws them alike, so exact text searches or comparisons may treat them differently.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 텫 split into separate Hangul letters?

A Unicode normalization step or an input tool may decompose the block into jamo. The intended syllable is unchanged, but the underlying text sequence differs, which can affect exact searches or comparisons.
