Hanifi Rohingya Digit Seven

48/50

𐴷 is the Hanifi Rohingya digit for seven. It is one of ten symbols used to write numbers in this script, including in arithmetic lessons. The unusual detail is directional: a number keeps its left-to-right order even inside Hanifi writing that runs right to left.

Text symbol

What 𐴷 means

It is the Hanifi Rohingya digit for seven.

It appears in counting and arithmetic materials. Rohingya is also written in Myanmar, Arabic, and Latin-based Rohingyalish. Those are different scripts for the same language; this glyph is the Hanifi form of seven.

In a line of Hanifi writing, the reading direction switches at a number: surrounding letters run right to left, while its digits are read left to right.

Why does Rohingya have a Hanifi script?

It was developed as an alphabetic way to write Rohingya.

The Rohingya Language Committee developed Hanifi Rohingya during the 1980s under Maulana Mohammed Hanif’s guidance. A signed chart records Hanif and others finalizing a version of the script on 19 February 1980.

Arabic influenced the script’s overall appearance and structure; some letter shapes also show Latin and Myanmar influence. It is a constructed script, not a direct descendant of those writing systems. Rohingya is also written in Myanmar, Arabic, and Latin-based Rohingyalish; handwritten primers, arithmetic materials, books, and newspapers show Hanifi in use for teaching, calculation, and publication.

How do I type 𐴷?

Choose Hanifi mode in a Hanifi keyboard.

As of 2026, an online Rohingya keyboard groups Hanifi letters, vowels, marks, and digits separately; its physical-keyboard instructions are for Rohingyalish, the Latin-based way of writing Rohingya.

On a device whose active font does not cover Hanifi Rohingya, 𐴷 may appear as a square. That is a display issue; the intended value remains seven.

Neutral and numeric; it identifies the Hanifi Rohingya digit set.

A square can mean the font cannot display Hanifi; the intended digit is still seven.

Why does 𐴷 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
