What 𐴠 means
𐴠 is the e-vowel sign in Hanifi Rohingya.
In ordinary spelling, it follows a consonant and supplies that syllable's vowel. It is one part of a spelling, not a complete word.
At a word's start, the carrier 𐴀 comes first: 𐴀𐴠. That sequence writes initial e.
Why was Hanifi Rohingya created?
It was designed to fit Rohingya sounds and support a shared written form.
Rohingya was also written in Arabic-derived forms and is written in Latin and Myanmar scripts too. Hanifi Rohingya runs right to left, with letters that join in an Arabic-like way, and spells vowel information explicitly. The Unicode proposal describes its modern design as influenced by Latin and Myanmar scripts, without direct descent from any one writing system.
A finalized script chart is signed February 19, 1980; a committee led by Maulana Mohammed Hanif developed the script in the 1980s. It later appears in books, newspapers, websites, and community schools. Choosing Hanifi places a text in a Rohingya-language literacy context.
