What 𑼂 means
It writes r before the consonant that completes its cluster.
Kawi developed from the Pallava script, an older writing system in the Brahmi family. It was used across island Southeast Asia for Sanskrit and older forms of Javanese, Malay, Balinese, and Sundanese. Kawi records span the 8th through the 16th centuries; from the mid-8th century, inscriptions include land grants and royal orders. Later, the script also carried Old Javanese literary works.
Why can Kawi repha mean final r?
Some late Kawi manuscripts use it for final r.
Most Kawi writing places it at a cluster’s start. In late Kawi manuscript traditions, the same sign can mark final -r: this is recorded in gebang palm-leaf manuscripts from West Java and lontar manuscripts from the Merapi–Merbabu region of Central Java. A 2020 survey of West Javanese gebang manuscripts found final -r in Old Sundanese texts, while Old Javanese texts used both readings.
What does it mean when someone sends 𑼂 alone?
Usually, it is an unfinished Kawi spelling fragment.
The sign normally needs a following consonant, so alone it gives no complete Kawi syllable. If it arrives in a chat, ask for the surrounding Kawi text instead of assigning it a reaction meaning.
