Khitan Small Script Character-18B04

5/471

𘬄 is a Khitan character in a script for writing Khitan. Created about 925, the script’s label identifies the glyph, not its meaning. A 2012 survey dates the earliest Khitan Small Script inscription to 1053, a noble’s tomb text. Uyghur writing may have inspired Khitan writing; Jurchen people modeled their script on it. Use continued under the Jin dynasty until 1191. Rediscovered in 1922, it is partly deciphered.

Why does 𘬄 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
