What 𘰀 means
It was one of two writing systems for the Khitan language. Created around 925 and traditionally credited to Yelü Diela, it drew on Chinese writing and Uyghur script. It served the Liao dynasty in northern China; surviving examples include tomb inscriptions, monuments, tallies, and bronze mirrors. A 2025 study identifies an inscription from Liao Emperor Xingzong’s Chongxi reign as the earliest known small-script text. The later Jin dynasty continued using Khitan scripts after Liao fell, until 1211.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘰀 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
