𘰮

khitan small script character-18c2e

Khitan small script character

303/471

𘰮 is a character in Khitan small script, developed in North Asia in the 10th century to write Khitan during the Liao dynasty. The script drew on Chinese character forms; surviving inscriptions date from the 11th–12th centuries, and Jurchen writing adapted Khitan scripts. Small-script signs could spell sounds or stand for whole words, so this glyph alone has no single dependable translation.

Why does 𘰮 show as a box on some devices?

It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
