What 𑋥 means
It changes the preceding consonant’s vowel to e. This is a dependent vowel sign, or matra; in character order it follows its base consonant. The independent letter 𑊶 writes an e vowel without a base.
Khudawadi, a Landa-based script related to Sharada, developed around Khudabad in the seventeenth century. Sindhi traders used it for messages, accounts, and business records. In the 1860s, it was standardized for education and administration; the Government of Bombay published that standard in 1868. Khudawadi also appeared in books and court records. When Arabic-based Sindhi became official in the late nineteenth century, Khudawadi declined. Its 2014 Unicode entry records digital encoding, not the sign’s historical beginning.
Why does 𑋥 show a dotted circle?
The circle marks where the unattached sign joins its base. Reference charts may put a dotted circle beside an isolated mark to show its attachment point; the circle is a display aid, not part of the text. In character order, 𑋥 follows its base consonant, even if the font draws it elsewhere. A font without Khudawadi coverage may show a box or fallback glyph.
A script-specific spelling mark found in Khudawadi texts and records.
Use 𑊶 when e stands without a preceding consonant.

Questions people ask
1Why do I see a box instead of 𑋥?
Your font may lack Khudawadi coverage, so it substitutes a box or fallback shape. The text can still contain 𑋥; displaying it requires a font that supports the script.
