What means
It marks the end of a section.
Bantawa is a language spoken in Nepal and India. A 2026 guide uses for sections and for sentences; a 2022 description says both end sentences. Traditional South Asian texts use double dandas for larger units such as verses.
One account traces the script to Sumhung Lipi, a script Tika Ram Rai made in the 1920s for the religious Rai book Sumhung; it links Old Kirat Lipi to the Limbu/Sirijanga script. Another dates Kripasalyan Rai’s design based on the Devanagari script to 1981–82; a redesign in 2000 produced the current form.

Worth knowing
- A font documented in 2022 mapped Latin keystrokes to Kirat Rai glyphs instead of storing Unicode text.
Questions people ask
1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
