What 𑲇 means
It is a base letter in Marchen spelling, not a complete message.
“Za” is a Latin-script name for this letter, not a word it spells by itself. Marchen is an abugida: its consonant letters carry a default vowel that vowel signs can change, and some letters stack vertically. Its reading comes from the surrounding written sequence.
Where did Marchen writing come from?
Bön tradition associates Marchen with pre-Buddhist Zhang-zhung.
Bön is a Tibetan religious tradition. A bronze seal from Menri Monastery is considered a possible early Marchen example, though its date and authenticity are uncertain.
Marchen is also used to write Tibetan in modern Bön writing. Marchung, Pungchen, Pungchung, and Drusha are other Bön writing traditions; Lantsa is a distinct script.
Why can 𑲇 look wrong in a stack?
Check the font and its text-shaping support.
Marchen needs complex text layout to position vowel signs and stack consonants. Noto Sans Marchen requires this support. A single letter may render even when a longer spelling does not.
A 2021-11-11 report for BabelStone Marchen 9.003 recorded vowel signs sitting too high in deep stacks on Windows 10 with HarfBuzz, a text-shaping engine. That report describes a rendering issue in that combination, not another letter or reading.
Alone, it identifies a Marchen letter; it does not carry a reliably readable message by itself.
