What 𝓗 means
A formula assigns this H a particular variable or object. Mathematical notation uses letter styles to distinguish variables and objects. The surrounding definitions tell you which one this H names.
Why are 𝓗 and ℋ separate?
𝓗 is bold script; ℋ is regular script. In a 1999 Unicode proposal, mathematical publishers argued that plain, bold, and script letters can denote different objects, so math in plain text needs separate characters. The proposal expanded a smaller set of special letter-shaped signs that already included ℋ, identified with the Hamiltonian operator.

1Questions people ask
3Why does 𝓗 look different in different math fonts?
Math fonts use different script drawings. Unicode defines the mathematical style, but its chart glyph is not a required design, so the calligraphic strokes can change while the character stays 𝓗.
Can text software turn 𝓗 into H?
Yes, if it applies compatibility normalization such as NFKC. That mapping reduces mathematical alphanumeric letters to ordinary Latin or Greek letters, so this H's bold-script distinction is lost.
Should I use 𝓗 to style ordinary text?
No. Unicode reserves these mathematical letters for mathematical notation. In regular prose, style an ordinary H with text formatting instead; mathematical characters used as decoration can interfere with searching and restyling.
