What 𝐴 means
It marks a mathematical variable. In formulas, italic Latin letters usually represent one-letter variables; the equation tells you what A stands for. Its slant is part of the notation.
Math italic for variables seems to have entered European print in the late sixteenth century. François Viète used upright capitals for unknowns in a 1591 algebra text; René Descartes’s 1637 La Géométrie helped establish italic lowercase unknowns. In 1998, the STIX project—a publisher-backed effort to build a shared science and math font set—proposed mathematical alphabets to Unicode to make math easier to exchange across publishing systems.
Use this character in mathematical or technical notation; use a regular A in prose and apply text styling if italics are needed.

1Questions people ask
1Can Unicode normalization change 𝐴?
Yes. NFKC and NFKD are text-standardizing forms that turn mathematical letters into their base Latin or Greek letters; 𝐴 becomes A. If the slant matters in an equation, avoid these conversions or preserve the math styling separately.
