What 𝒵 means
The formula's definition tells you what this script Z names.
Calligraphic capitals belong to one of several math alphabets; they let writers keep symbols distinct. A script Z may name a function, operator, or transform, but no one meaning belongs to 𝒵 alone. In LaTeX, this form is commonly written \mathscr{Z}.
In a formula, adjacent single-letter variables may imply multiplication or another composition. 𝒵 is therefore a symbol for a defined object, not a way to spell a word.
Why does 𝒵 change to Z?
NFKC and NFKD normalization remove its script style.
Unicode maps 𝒵 compatibly to ordinary Z. Software that applies these normalization forms can flatten a distinction a formula depends on.
Script alphabets were already used in mathematical printing before Unicode. In 1977, the American Mathematical Society, a professional mathematics organization, described script capitals as common in math and designed a plainer alphabet for small-size composition. Unicode 3.1 (2001) encoded the wider mathematical alphabets so plain-text formulas could preserve those distinctions. Fonts still vary in their exact strokes.
Mathematical typography; unusual in ordinary prose.
Do not assume it means the integers; that notation is usually ℤ.

1𝒵 vs ℤ: does it mean the integers?
No. The integers are conventionally written as double-struck ℤ; 𝒵 is a different mathematical style and has no fixed integer meaning.
