What 𖹰 means
It spells the b sound inside Medefaidrin words.
Medefaidrin is a language with its own alphabet, created for Obɛri Ɔkaimɛ (“Church freely given”), a Christian community among Ibibio speakers in southeastern Nigeria. The community says a spiritual revelation gave the language to founder Michael Ukpong in 1927; church secretary Akpan Udofia transcribed it. Researchers place development of the script in the 1930s; R. F. G. Adams’s 1947 article already includes an alphabet table.
A 2010 linguistic study describes members using Medefaidrin for worship and daily life with less interference from colonial officials. A 2016 proposal reports its use in prayer, scripture meditation and Sunday-school lessons. Across these settings, 𖹰 remains a letter inside Medefaidrin words.
