What 𖩮 means
It separates a smaller unit of text. Mro punctuation lists it for phrase breaks alongside the comma, semicolon, and colon; the exact division among these marks is not fixed.
The word “danda” links it to a wider punctuation tradition across South and Southeast Asia. That is a functional connection, not evidence that Mro script descends from another script.
Why was the Mro script created?
Menlay Murang developed it in the 1980s. While teaching Krama, a religious movement among the Mro, he helped create a writing system for Mro people and used it to support that teaching.
Mro writing can also use punctuation marks familiar from Latin-letter text, so 𖩮 is one convention, not the only possible stop.
Why does this mark show as a box?
A font without Mro coverage cannot draw it. A box or question mark points to missing font support. Choose a font that includes the Mro script; the character itself has not changed.
Script-specific Mro punctuation; its documented phrase-boundary role belongs to Mro writing.
The Devanagari danda shares its name and punctuation role, but it is a different character.

Can I use it as an English period?
Not reliably. Mro orthography assigns 𖩮 to phrase breaks and its paired form to sentence-ending punctuation, so it does not map neatly to an English full stop.
