What 𑊍 means
It marks a consonant inside a Multani word.
Multani often leaves vowels unwritten and uses separate letters for consonant clusters. That means 𑊍 alone cannot identify a complete word or a fully specified syllable. In a message by itself, it is most plausibly a character sample, an identification prompt, or a font/input test.
How did Multani develop from Landa?
It grew from Landa and later entered religious print. Multani developed from Landa, a family of practical merchant scripts, around Multan and northern Sindh in the 18th century. It served everyday and commercial writing before expanding into literature and religious texts.
An 1819 New Testament is the earliest printed evidence documented for Multani, not proof of its first manuscript. The Baptist Mission Press made metal type for the book, helping bring the script into literary and religious print.
As Arabic-script writing was standardized in Sindh under colonial administration, Multani declined. It is related to Gurmukhi and more distantly to Khudawadi and Khojki. As of 2026, Seraiki is written in Arabic script.

1Questions people ask
2Why does 𑊍 look different across samples?
It can. Multani has no standard form: this encoded character covers documented historical letterforms, and fonts choose which drawing to show.
Why is 𑊍 a box on my screen?
Your current font lacks a glyph for this character. Unicode identifies the character, while a font supplies its drawing; choose one with Multani coverage.
