What 𞓤 means
It writes /e/, like the first vowel in Spanish mesa.
Nag Mundari, commonly called Mundari Bani, is an alphabet made for the Mundari language. It writes vowels with separate letters instead of attaching vowel marks to consonants. Mundari is also written in Devanagari, Bengali, Odia and Latin scripts; Latin e is a transliteration label, not this character. In most Word editions, type 1E4E4 and press Alt+X to enter this letter. Mundari writer Rohidas Singh Nag began an early form as a schoolchild in the early 1950s and shared a simplified version in the early 1980s.
Another scholarly account dates the script's invention to the 1990s; the dates may mark early design versus later establishment. The first book, Mundari Bani Hisir, was handwritten in 2004 because no typeface was then available. Nag and community organizations reformed the script in 2008, changing some letters for easier reading or writing and producing the first fonts. A 2018 study suggests script-level influence from Ol Chiki, used for Santali, and partly Warang Citi, used for Ho; it does not trace this exact E to either.
