What 𑐡 means
Read it as the plain Newa d consonant. It is not a word or picture: Newa is an abugida, a script where a bare consonant already includes a short vowel, while an added vowel sign or virama changes that syllable.
The form evolved rather than having one inventor. Records trace Newa from Brahmi through Northern Gupta and Kutila or proto-Bengali, related to Bengali, Oriya, and Tirhuta. The earliest recorded example is a 908 CE Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra manuscript, a Buddhist text. The script served Newar or Nepal Bhasa and Sanskrit in inscriptions, coins, manuscripts, and publications, and also wrote Maithili, Bengali, and Hindi.
Its public role changed after the 1769 Gorkha takeover: use declined, and a 1905 ban was lifted in 1951. Revival work accelerated in the 1980s. Bhujimol and Ranjana developed from the Newar model; Ranjana appears in Mahayana Buddhist texts, but it is a related script, not a font of Newa.
How do you type newa letter da?
Use it as a consonant, then add the spelling marks. Copy it from the palette above for the exact character. A Newa vowel sign supplies the following vowel; a virama, a small joining mark, removes the built-in vowel or helps build a conjunct. If you see a box or broken cluster, install a Newa font and use a Newa keyboard.
Neutral inside Newa writing; conspicuous as a lone character in an unrelated chat.
Do not read it as a picture or a complete Newa word.

1Why does 𑐡 look different in clusters?
Because Newa fonts can form conjuncts. If a font lacks the needed conjunct glyph, the virama stays visible instead of the consonants fusing.
