What 𐓡 means
Earlier spellings varied, so writers needed one consistent way to write Osage.
Before 2006, writers used different spellings with the Latin alphabet and sound-based transcriptions—spellings meant to show pronunciation. In 2006, Osage language director Herman “Mogri” Lookout worked with advanced learners and elders, using recordings of earlier Osage speakers to develop an alphabet for Osage sounds that English spelling did not readily capture.
Osage speakers and linguists refined the system, and the Osage Nation adopted it in 2015. In 2018, short Osage-language posts began appearing in social feeds as the Nation brought Osage fonts, keyboards, and learning tools online.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐓡 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Osage block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
